The passuk says, “Hayom Hazeh Hashem Elokecha Metzavcha La’asos – Today, Hashem your G-d commands you to do.” Rebbe Nachman teaches a beautiful lesson from these words. A Yid should always think that he only has today. There is no tomorrow; only today. This way he won’t become overwhelmed by all his responsibilities, wondering, “How will I ever become an oived Hashem? How will I ever know the whole Torah?” Instead, he focuses only on what Hashem wants from him today. It also helps us avoid pushing things off, teaching us that tomorrow is never guaranteed.
