Hareni Mekasher - הריני מקשר

The Tzaddikim pour every drop of their spiritual strength into lifting every soul to Hashem. Binding ourselves to them means dedicating every thought, every action, and the very fiber of our being to their eternal movement and carrying their living message forward.

The words are based on the tefillah of Hareini Mekasher (הריני מקשר) attributed to Reb Nosson zy”a, following the guidance of Rebbe Nachman zy”a in Sichos HaRan 296. The original tefillah goes like this:

הריני מקשר עצמי לכל הצדיקים האמיתיים שבדורנו, ולכל הצדיקים האמיתיים שוכני עפר, קדושים אשר בארץ המה, ובפרט לרבנו הקדוש, נחל נובע מקור חכמה, רבנו נחמן בן פיגא, זכותם יגן עלינו ועל כל ישראל, אמן.

Over time, some have merged this tefillah with broader intentions to focus on connecting every facet of one’s being to the Tzaddikim.

בשעת התפלה צריכין לקשר עצמו להצדיקים שבדור, כמובא בסימן ב’ ובסימן ט’ בלקוטי מוהר”ן חלק ראשון ובשאר מקומות. על כן הזהיר לאנשיו שיאמרו קודם התפלה: הריני מקשר עצמי לכל הצדיקים שבדורנו.

“During prayer, one must bind oneself to the Tzaddikim of the generation, as brought in Lesson 2 and Lesson 9 of Likutey Moharan (Part I) and in other places. Therefore, he instructed his followers to recite before prayer: ‘Hareini mekasher atzmi l’khol haTzaddikim sheb’doreinu’ (Behold, I bind myself to all the Tzaddikim of our generation).”
