The halacha is, that if one has tzaraas, even if everyone knows that it is tzaraas, he is not tamei until the kohein says, “Tamei.” Said the Dubno Maggid: one gets tzaraas because of speaking lashon hara. Why do people tend to be negligent about speaking lashon hara? Because they tend to think, “Big deal, I didn’t hurt the guy, I just said something nasty. Who cares?” Now we are teaching him the power of speech. One word “tamei” or “tahor,” changes his halachic status! How much more so did his many nasty words matter!
We can learn from this, that if the negative power of speech is so strong, for sure the positive power of speech is super strong. Try to say good words to your fellow Yid. Try to say good things out loud about Yidden. This will definitely bring down great hashpaos from above!
