‘…Eat Hamantashen?
Many say, because Haman’s ears or hat were triangular, we eat these yummy treats. There are many deeper reasons as well. Originally hamantashen were filled with poppy seeds. The seeds remind us of Daniel who only ate seeds in the house of Nevuchadnetzar. The gemara says that Hasach, who brought clothing from Esther to Mordechai in the Megillah, was actually, secretly, Daniel! Another reason relates to the jelly that is hidden inside. Just like in the Purim story Hashem’s name is not mentioned in the Megillah. If you look at it simply, it could all be explained as “natural” or “political” events. But that is the whole secret of Purim. Nothing is random – it’s all from Hashem. And when we look INSIDE, we see the sweetest emunah, and hashgachah of Hashem! One more reason given is that the three corners represent the Avos! The word “tash” could mean “to weaken,” and it would mean: that although Haman tried to destroy the Yidden, the power of the Avos weakened him instead!
