The tune for this song is so profoundly holy, that traditionally it is only sung by young children on Shabbos morning. Many times the meaning is lost through tunes that may not exactly capture the essence of what the words are trying to say. The Lubavitcher Rebbe, may his merit protect us, composed this tune and reportedly it was brought down into the world originally by a Jew who was exemplary in the acts of Mesiras Nefesh, self-sacrifice, to help save another Jewish person’s life. Tradition has it that although he wasn’t successful in saving the person he went out to save, his Mesiras Nefesh and willingness to sacrifice everything to save another person was such that he was gifted this melody from the supernal worlds.

This melody is of profound importance and power and for me the tune really exemplifies the meaning of the words of Nafshi Hamda Betzel Yadecha, my soul craves the shadow of Hashem.

This new rendition of “Anim Zemiros” brings renewed focus to the profound themes embedded in its timeless words. Known as the ‘Song of Glory,’ “Anim Zemiros” reflects the deep yearning of the soul to praise and honor Hashem with heartfelt devotion. We focus on the personal aspect of this service, on each persons unique ability to bring out something, that only they can, in their service of Hashem.”

“Mi Haish Hachafetz Chaim are words written by David HaMelech in Tehillim (Psalms 34. He teaches us how to live a good life by seeing the good in other people and loving and receiving everything that happens in the day lovingly. He also advises us Ntzor Leshoni Mera, to cease, do not let your tongue speak negative things or your lips from speaking wicked. Sur Mera V’asei Tov Bakesh Shalom Virodfehu, turn away from all that is negative and pursue only good.

This concept of Sur Mera V’Asei Tov is so vital to Judaism and it encapsulates both our positive commandments and our negative commandments. The main thing is that a person should always pursue the positive.”
