Machshava: Seeing Your World in Your Days
The Baal Shem Tov revealed to us the true power of being a Yid. With our heads in the Heavens and feet on the ground, we carry within ourselves all of the worlds and all of the sefiros. Instead of searching outside of ourselves for the solutions we so desperately seek, we can now look inwards to uncover the wholeness that is always already there. Far more than the organ that enables thinking, the mind and the brain of the Yid are revealed to be a portal through which we enter into deveykus with Hashem.
As the Baal Shem Tov taught us: “a person is where their thoughts are.” Our thinking minds are the pathways that stretch forth from the “world-of-thought,” where Hashem reveals Himself. When we attach our minds to that which is light and good, we become attached and unified with that which is good. This is not some magic trick taking place in the mind through our thoughts, for our thoughts have no power of their own. Rather, Hashem has revealed a segulah within the mind that when we nullify our self-interest and attach ourselves to His Ratzon, we have the ability to draw down new revelations and spiritual awareness. When the mind is emptied of itself, it is filled with emunah and daas, a form of knowing far beyond intellectual knowledge. When we uncover the true unity of our thoughts with Hashem, every thought becomes an opportunity to reveal Hashem’s presence. Prior to the universal Geulah, we can taste our own personal redemption over and over. By thinking good thoughts of joy and faith, we reveal the secret of enoughness that rests within us. No longer running and chasing that which is outside of us, we come to find the treasure that we have been searching for was within us all along.
