YOELI: I heard that on Lag Ba’omer, when Reb Shimon was niftar, Hashem kept the sun from setting so Reb Shimon could reveal the light of pnimius haTorah, the Zohar – like a fiery bright bonfire that lights up the world! As he shared the deep secrets of the Torah, a fire surrounded him and his house, and the hot sun didn’t set until he was finished sharing the Zohar!
YOSSI: That’s right! The light of Lag Ba’omer doesn’t stop at nighttime either! I was here last year, and even as it turned dark, and it was actually the 34th day of the Omer, the music and dancing showed no sign of stopping!
YOELI: In Meron, the main hadlakah is done on the roof of the building, right over there, over the kever of Reb Shimon. It is lit by the Boyaner Rebbe, whose Zeide, the Sadigurer Rebbe bought the kovod many years ago. Many Tzadikim have a minhag to light a fire here, whenever they visit Reb Shimon’s kever!
