Toward the beginning of their connection, Rebbe Nachman put his arms around Reb Nosson’s shoulders and said, “It’s very good to open up your heart before Hashem like you would before your best friend.” Rebbe Nachman taught that in addition to the standard three tefillos a day, it was important to set aside time to speak to Hashem directly and spontaneously using our own words in the language we feel most comfortable.

Tikkun HaKalli

It was known to earlier Tzadikim that there were ten specific chapters of Tehillim which contain the essence of the sefer and can help a person in the area of personal purity, but they were unable to identify them. One of the many gifts Rebbe Nachman left for Am Yisrael was his revelation of the ten special chapters, each drawing on one of the ten types of song with which Tehillim was composed:  16, 32, 41, 42, 59, 77, 90, 105, 137, and 150.

Nekudah Tovah

This phrase comes from one of Rebbe Nachman’s most famous lessons, the teaching of “Azamrah,” which appears in Likutei Moharan 282. There, the Tzadik teaches about the importance of finding the good points (nekudos tovos) in others (even the most wicked!) and ourselves as well, seeing past the surface of our actions to glimpse the shining essence of our Cheilek Eloka M’Maal. This effort to see the “point of good” is a major part of the Breslov approach.
