Why was Lot saved from S’dom?
In the merit of Avraham, because of his connection to Avraham. You see that it is a big zechus to have a kesher with a tzadik. But it goes even beyond that! The halacha says that when you see the place of S’dom, one of the brachos you say is Baruch…Zocher Hatzadikim, Who remembers the righteous ones. Why “tzadikim” in plural? The only tzadik around was Avraham! You see from here that when you are mekasher yourself to a tzadik, you become a tzadik yourself!
