The passuk says, “Be’eiver HaYarden ho’il Moshe be’er es haTorah hazos” (“Across the Yarden, Moshe began explaining this Torah”). The Me’or VaShemesh asks that this whole parsha is really mussar. Moshe Rabbeinu did not begin reviewing the Torah until next week’s parsha, so why doesn’t this passuk appear there instead?

He answers that before a person begins learning Torah, it is very important to first do a little teshuvah. Even something as simple as telling Hashem for one moment that you truly want to do His will. That is why Moshe first gave mussar, because he was preparing Klal Yisroel to receive the Torah.

How long did it take Moshe Rabbeinu to say Chumash Devarim?

1) It means that just as the sun, moon, and stars are everlasting, so too Klal Yisroel will exist forever. 2) No. This is Answers:
learned from the passuk, “Ka’katan ka’gadol tishma’un” (“You shall hear the small and the great alike”). A judge must always
judge fairly. 3) Thirty-six days. He began on the first of Shevat and passed away on the seventh of Adar.
