Moshe Rabbeinu asked Hashem, “Yifkod Hashem Elokei haruchos l’chol basar — May Hashem, the G-d of all flesh, appoint someone over the community etc.” The Kedushas Levi says that this is a remez that Hashem looks favorably at every Yid, and even if he sometimes messes up, He knows that he is only human (basar v’dam). This is what Moshe was asking Hashem: just like You, Hashem, are Elokei haruchos l’chol basar and look favorably at Yidden, so too give them a Rebbe who will look favorably at every Yid, always being melamed zechus on Yidden.
Let us all try to emulate the tzadikim, and always look favorably at every Yid, and remember that we are only “basar”!
