The Medrash says that when Hashem gave the Torah to Klal Yisroel, the whole world was quiet. No birds hummed, the sea was quiet, even the malachim were still. Then Hashem said “Anochi Hashem Elokecha.”
Reb Shimshon Pinkus says a most amazing thing. It looks like the Medrash is saying that the whole world was quiet so that Anochi can be heard at its best, but really the peshat is that the world is always declaring the Oneness of Hashem, but this is usually drowned out by the many other things that are ‘making noise’. The moment all of the external “noise” became silent, the Yidden automatically heard the call that is always coming forth from the world, “Anochi Hashem Elokecha!!”
