Inspired by the words and life’s work of the Lubavitcher Rebbe, zy”a, “Spread Light” could basically be the anthem of our mission statement. A call to action. A reminder that being a Yid means carrying light wherever we go, especially into the places that seem furthest from it.
From the very beginning of creation, light has played a central role. The Torah opens with “Yehi Ohr”, Let there be light, a statement that wasn’t just about physical illumination, but about Hashem hiding the potential for clarity and purpose within the very world in which we live. The Rebbe saw that light as the birthright of every Yid, and he made it his life’s mission to awaken that awareness in every person he encountered.
The Rebbe’s revolutionary message was simple yet world-shaking: No place is too dark, no soul is too far. Every Jew has a spark of Hashem inside, and that spark is enough to ignite an entire world. That’s why he sent Shluchim to every corner of the globe, to bring warmth, love, and Yiddishkeit, to even the most remote, forgotten places.
But the Rebbe also reminded us that this mission isn’t just for a select few. It’s for all of us. We’re each called upon to spread light. That means being a source of hope, of faith, of love—not only to others, but also to ourselves. The Rebbe taught that the real work starts inside: in the heart, in the mind, in the small, personal battles we fight every day. To spread light outward, we first need to uncover it within.
The chorus of the song echoes the words of the pasuk in Parshas Vayeitzei:
“Ufaratzta yama vakeidma, tzafona vanegba.”
It’s Hashem’s promise and a holy mission. Our light isn’t meant to stay contained. It needs to expand in every direction. The words of the song transform that vision into a tangible task:

The Rebbe saw this clearly. He lived with the awareness that we’re in the final stretch of Galus, and that every act of bringing more Hashem into the world brings us one step closer to Geulah. He didn’t just speak about Moshiach, he empowered an entire generation to live with Moshiach consciousness. Spread Light is that consciousness in musical form.
This song is a reminder of our collective mission: to illuminate the world with the awareness of Hashem. Not just in words, but in action. Not just in holy places, but everywhere. From Brooklyn to Bangkok, from Jerusalem to Johannesburg. In shuls, in schools, on sidewalks, in subways.
This is our mission. This is our privilege. This is our power. Because the world doesn’t need more darkness. It needs more light. And you were born to bring it.
